Presentation at AMS/SMT

I presented a paper titled “Harmonizing with the Enemy: Touring Opera and the Sino-Soviet Conflict of 1929” on the panel Russian and Soviet Music in Times of Military Aggression at the joint Annual Meeting of the American Musicological Society and the Society for Music Theory. The paper examines the tour of the Soviet Opera of the Chinese Eastern Railroad in the context of the Sino-Soviet Conflict over the railway.
